Transparency and privacy
Privacy policy
This document explains how All About Lipedema (https://www.lipedema-hub.com) collects and uses information, including cookies and digital tools. Last updated: May 2026.
1. Who we are
This site provides general information about lipedema - articles, explanations, and tools. The content is not a substitute for personal medical advice. Use of the site is also subject to our Terms of Use. For questions about this policy, contact privacy@lipedema-hub.com.
2. What information may be collected
When you use the site, information such as the following may be collected:
- Usage and analytics data - Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-8J42MLFBFE): visitor identifiers (Client ID), Session ID, pages viewed, device and browser in aggregate, via cookies and similar technologies. Our server also counts anonymously how many times each article was viewed (once per browser session), clicks on product links on the tools page, yes/no votes in the “Did you find this article interesting?” poll, comments users post on articles (name and comment text), and forum Q&A (name, optional title, and text) - without email.
- Advertising - Google AdSense (cookies and identifiers to display ads, including personalized ads where permitted).
- Local browser storage - saved articles (“Saved”), remembering your last choice in the article feedback poll (localStorage - no name or email; vote counts themselves are sent to our server as anonymous data, see above), cookie notice preference, language preference (cookie), and accessibility menu preferences (localStorage). This data is not sent to our server as a personal profile. Details are in the Accessibility statement.
- Article sharing - share buttons (WhatsApp, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Telegram, email) take you to an external service or open an app; that provider’s privacy policy applies there. Copy link uses your browser clipboard.
- Server logs - HTTP requests, IP address, and User-Agent for operations and security (via our hosting provider).
2a. Google Analytics and data linking
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to analyze traffic, visits, and content usage.
Google Analytics may assign visit and session identifiers using cookies
(e.g. _ga, _gid) and similar technologies.
Usage data we collect on our server (e.g. article views, link clicks, poll votes, and article comments and forum Q&A) is not directly linked to Google Analytics identifiers in our database; however, during the same browser session both Google Analytics events and our measurement events may be sent, and they can be associated at the session level. Google may link data it collects through Analytics with visit details and other Google products (such as advertising) - according to your consent, your Google privacy settings, and applicable law.
More information: How Google Analytics processes data · How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
“Cookies” are small text files stored in your browser. We use cookies and local storage for essential operation, statistics, and advertising. In Israel we show a consent notice on entry and enable Analytics and ads only after you click “Got it”; visitors from the EU, UK, or Switzerland see a separate consent window (Google CMP) as required locally.
4. Purposes of use
- Operating the site, content, and tools (e.g. nutrition calculator).
- Understanding site usage and improving content - including article feedback polls, reader comments, and the Q&A forum.
- Displaying ads and measuring ad performance.
- Securing information and preventing misuse (e.g. comment or forum spam).
5. Sharing with third parties and advertising
Information may be shared with service providers such as Google (Analytics, AdSense). Google’s policy: policies.google.com/privacy. We do not sell personal information to third parties.
Google ads (AdSense): Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies (e.g. the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other websites.
- Opt out of Google personalized ads: Google Ads Settings.
- Opt out of third-party ad cookies (where available): aboutads.info (US) · youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
- More information: How Google uses information in advertising.
6. Legal basis (Israel)
Use of information complies with Israel’s Privacy Protection Law, 1981, and relevant regulations, including transparency regarding databases, cookies, and direct marketing (where applicable). Clicking “Got it” on the cookie notice, or consenting via Google’s CMP window (for visitors from Europe, the UK, or Switzerland), constitutes consent to collect and process the data described - including linking with visit details collected by Google Analytics - where consent is required by law.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have rights such as:
- Reviewing information held about you (if any).
- Requesting correction or deletion of information - including a comment you posted (contact us below).
- Objecting to certain uses or requesting restriction.
- Withdrawing consent - e.g. via browser settings, blocking cookies, or contacting us.
European visitors can manage preferences via “Privacy and cookie settings” at the bottom of the site (when shown), or via Google’s consent window (CMP) on entry.
You can also block cookies in your browser; full blocking may affect some tools or ad display.
8. Retention
Analytics and advertising data are retained by Google per their policies. Article comments and forum posts (questions and replies) are stored in our database until you request deletion (by email) or site operators remove them. Local browser data remains until manually deleted or cookies are cleared. Server logs are kept for a reasonable period for operations.
9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information (HTTPS, minimal permissions). No security on the internet is absolute.
10. Minors
The site is intended for adults. If we learn that information was collected from a minor without authorization, we will act to delete it as required by law.
11. Changes to this policy
