Who writes this, and what that means

The content on this site is researched and written by an information researcher — not a physician and not a member of a medical team. There is no medical review board, and these articles are not clinical opinion. We say so plainly, because that matters more than sounding authoritative.

What does stand behind every article is research in the professional literature — peer-reviewed papers, clinical guidelines and publications from patient organisations — across several languages, including sources not available in English. Our job is to make that material accessible, not to replace your doctor. The full story of the site is on the about page.

How we prioritise sources

• Systematic reviews, meta-analyses and controlled trials in peer-reviewed journals.
• Official clinical guidelines (such as the German S2k guideline) and Standard of Care documents.
• Public health bodies such as the NHS, and research and patient organisations such as the Lipedema Foundation.

We avoid commercial blogs, personal anecdote presented as evidence, and sites that sell the product they recommend.

How an article is built

• Gathering — searching the literature around the question the article answers.
• Cross-checking — a claim resting on a single source is flagged as such, or left out.
• Writing — in everyday language, with no promises of a cure and no certainty the literature does not support.
• Visible sources — every article ends with the sources it rests on, each directly linked. You can check our work.
• A real update date — the top of each article shows when the content actually last changed, separately from its publication date.

Found an error? Please tell us

An inaccuracy, a source that has aged, misleading wording — write to us via the contact page. We check every report against the sources and correct what needs correcting; a substantive correction updates the article's update date.
